After hailing reviews Sydney born, New York based singer-songwriter Alex The Astronaut has just released her brand new single ‘Already Home’.
‘Already Home’ follows Alex’s debut single ‘Half of 21st Street’ and ‘Holes in the Story’ and showcases Alex’s enviable song-writing ability: observant lyrics drawn from personal experience, layered over clever melodies with sweeping strings, acoustic guitar and uplifting piano keeping you hooked in from the very first listen.
“I was people watching on the bus home from one of my jobs and realized how many people experience this out of control feeling for the majority of their lives. It actually made me feel better to think of how much people do just so they can come home to someone they care about and so they can have something to eat and somewhere to sleep” Alex says of the track.
‘Already Home’ was premiered on Triple J last week by Richard Kingsmill who gave it a full score of 5 out of 5 on the Triple J Unearthed website quoting the lyric and saying “‘And there's billionaires for president, and parking fines at hospitals". What a line. The world is often cruelly unjust, but songs like this make it a better place.”
The single has been scheduled for full rotation on Triple J, and while we impatiently are waiting for a music video, you can get the single here.
