Universal Music Publishing Australia today announced that songwriter and producer Michael Fatkin has signed a global publishing deal.
The Australian-born Grammy and APRA-nominated musician has been widely recognised by his penchant for translating the soul of storytelling into the realm of pop music. The new announcement will see UMPG work with The Kennel (Sweden) in an exclusive joint venture.
Fatkin’s sought-after talent has led to him working with artists Jessica Mauboy, Stan Walker, Tina Arena together with profile writers such as DNA and Sarah Aarons. With his reputation gaining momentum locally, naturally his ability grabbed the attention of international artists, seeing him work with the likes of Sam Fischer, Rozzi, Tabitha Nauser and Royal and The Serpent.
In making the announcement, Arwen Hunt, Vice President Creative at UMPG Australia & New Zealand, said: “Michael is an exceptional talent and a dream to work with. We’ve been watching his star rise for a couple of years now and he is deservedly becoming one of Australia’s most sought-after writer/producers. We also have the added bonus of working with Michael’s inimitable manager, Di Torossian, as well as the incredible Hayden Bell and his team at The Kennel in Sweden - a partnership that has already produced remarkable results from sessions in Europe and beyond. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Michael to the UMPG family!”
“It’s been a natural fit joining the UMPG publishing family together with Hayden Bell and the team at The Kennel,” Fatkin said. “Their support at home and abroad has already opened up incredible opportunities for me and I’m grateful to partner with such a passionate and driven team of people.”
Most recently, Fatkin added an APRA nomination string to his growing musical bow of achievements for his work on The McClymont’s track ‘House.’
Michael Fatkin joins UMP Australia’s roster that includes Alex The Astronaut, Bag Raiders, Cloves, Cosmo’s Midnight, Ecca Vandal, Gang of Youths, Guy Sebastian, Holy Holy, Hopium, Horrorshow, Jessica Mauboy, Jonti, Joyride, JOY., Lakyn, Maribelle, M-Phazes, Odette, Olympia, One Above, The Veronicas, Thief, Robinson, Ruel, Vera Blue, Woodes and many more.
