SYDNEY - Universal Music Publishing Australia has signed a global music publishing deal with Sydney artist/producer JOY., it was announced today by Bob Aird, Universal Music Publishing Australia MD, and Heath Johns, Universal Music Publishing Australia Director of A&R.
JOY. made an instant impact with her debut single ‘Captured’ – previously having only uploaded a cover she recorded on her phone, the track amassed an impressive amount of attention from top blogs and radio stations the world over.
In making the announcement Johns said: “JOY. is a special talent. She is a gifted performer, an honest lyricist and a truly impressive producer at just 17 years old. We are excited not only for her artist project but also the value she can add to other projects as a collaborator and producer.”

Following packed out sets as the Triple J Unearthed winner at the Brisbane leg of Laneway Festival and at Field Day 2015, JOY. Will also play alongside fellow Brisbane performer The Kite String Tangle and Sydney's Dustin Tebbutt on their June national tour. JOY.'s latest single ‘Weather,’ a cut from her Stone Mini EP released earlier this year, premiered on 2015 with Richard Kingsmill and established the 17 year-old classically trained multi-instrumentalist/producer/singer-songwriter as a force to be reckoned with.
