UMPG Writers Nominated for 2016 Brit Awards

Universal Music Publishing artists and writers have been nominated in every category for the 2016 BRIT awards.

Adele and Years & Years both have four nominations each. Adele is nominated for British Female Solo Artist, Brit Awards 2016 Album of the Year for‘25’, and Single and Video for ‘Hello’, whilst Years & Years are up for British Group, Breakthrough Act, Single and Video for ‘King’.

All the nominees in the prestigious Mastercard British Album of the Year category are signed to UMPG or have cuts from UMPG songwriters: Adele ’25’, Coldplay ‘A Head Full of Dreams’, Florence + The Machine ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’, Jamie xx ‘In Colour’ and James Bay ‘The Chaos and The Calm’ (featuring co-writes from Paul Barry, Jimmy Hogarth, Jon Green, Kid Harpoon and Ed Harcourt).

In addition to their Album of the Year nominations, Coldplay, Florence + The Machine and Jamie xx all have an additional nomination: British Band (Coldplay), British Female Solo Artist (Florence + The Machine) and British Male Solo Artist (Jamie xx). Two more UMPG songwriters also feature in the Best Single category: Jin Jin co-wrote Jess Glynne’s ‘Hold My Hand’, whilst Gary Lightbody co-wrote Ed Sheeran & Rudimental’s ‘Bloodstream’.

Justin Bieber has been nominated for International Male, Ariana Grande for International Female, whilst Alabama Shakes and U2 are both shortlisted for International Group.

This year’s BRIT Awards take place on 24th February at London’s O2 Arena. Congratulations to all our nominated artists and writers!
