Dua Lipa (Tap Publishing) picked up two BRIT Awards last night when she won 'British Female Solo Artist’ and ‘British Breakthrough Act’. The pop singer had an incredible 2017 working her way to the top of the charts. Her hit single ‘New Rules’ reached a billion views on YouTube this week, and current single ‘IDGAF’ is in its fourth week in the top five. In accepting the ‘British Female Solo Artist’ award she said; “Every single female that has been on this stage before me, that has given girls like me – not just girls in the music industry – but girls in society, a place to be inspired by, to look up and have allowed us to dream. Here’s to more women on these stages, more women winning awards and more women taking over the world.”
Steve Mac won the award for ‘Best British Producer’ - a category that returned this year. Mac’s 2017 production credits include Top Ten singles by P!nk, Rita Ora and Liam Payne, as well as co-writing and producing Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’ which became the most streamed track of all time and the highest selling UK single of last year.
In the British Video category, which is voted by the public, Harry Styles won ‘Best British Artist Video’ for ‘Sign Of The Times’.
Congratulations to all our nominees and winners!
