Held virtually on ASCAP’s social media platforms, the 2020 ASCAP Pop Music Awards celebrated the hottest pop songwriters who have penned some of the biggest songs of the year. 

Fred was recognised for his writing on Ed Sheeran’s ‘Beautiful People’ and ‘I Don’t Care’ (written alongside UMPG’s Justin Bieber), while Ariana Grande was awarded for four songs from her 2019 album ‘thank u, next’: title track ‘thank u, next’, ‘7 Rings’, ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored’, and ‘breathin’. 

Marshmello & Bastille’s ‘Happier’, co-written by Steve Mac and Dan Smith, also won, having spent a record 69 weeks at the top of the US Dance/Electronic Songs chart as of January 2020.
