UMP Nordics founder Martin Ingeström promoted to Chairman
Universal Music Publishing Scandinavia, a division of Universal Music Publishing Group, today announced that Jonas Wikström has been promoted to Managing Director of the Nordics, effective immediately. He will succeed Martin Ingeström who will remain with the company as Chairman of UMP Nordics until his planned retirement in June. Both executives will report to Marc Cimino, UMPG Chief Operating Officer.
In his new role, Wikström is responsible for UMPG’s creative and business operations in the Nordics. Most recently, he served as Executive Vice President A&R /Creative where he led the team’s A&R success and creative strategy in the territory. Wikström started at UMPG in 2002 and has been responsible for UMPG Nordics A&R and creative operations throughout his tenure. He has signed some of the most exciting and acclaimed songwriters in Scandinavia including Sebastian Ingrosso, Axwell and Steve Angello (Swedish House Mafia), Vincent Pontare, Salem Al Fakir, Magnus Lidehall, Agnes, Jacob Olofsson (Jarami), Alesso, Veronica Maggio, Oskar Linnros, and many more. In 2014, Wikström established Sweden Music, a JV between UMPG and Universal Music Group that acts as publisher, label and management for Seinabo Sey, Vargas & Lagola and more.

Previously serving as President, Nordic Region for UMPG Scandinavia, Martin Ingeström continues with the company in an elevated role as Chairman of the Nordics. Having spent three decades with UMPG, Ingeström founded the company’s Nordic presence in 1993, then as MCA Music Publishing. Under his leadership and direction, the company has since grown to become the largest music publishing company in the territory.

I hired Jonas 20 years ago and he has done an excellent job of developing our A&R department and creative work.
