バンドデビューを経て、91年アルバム「Fine」でソミーミュージックエンターテインメントよりソロデビュー。
坂本龍一、葉加瀬太郎、清水靖晃、ゴンチチ、クレモンティーヌ、ベルトラン・ブルガラ、エール、ほか海外 アーティストでは、スティービーワンダー、エブリシングバットザガール、屋敷豪太らとの海外レコーディングなど、 多数のアーティストとコラボレーションに取り組む。現在までに18枚のソロアルバムを発表。 独自のアーティスト活動の他、八代亜紀、坂本真綾、ユンソナ、小柳ゆき、芦田愛菜、CM音楽、劇伴他、さまざまなフィールドへの楽曲提供、 作詞作曲家として活動。

近年では、実家の造り酒屋「はさまや酒造店」の12代目を継承。アーティストの視点で食の分野においても クリエイティブの世界を広げている。
震災前よりチャリティー活動に参加。一般社団法人「みやぎびっきの会」理事として音楽を通し、故郷のために、 子どもたちの心の支援を中心に支援活動に奔走する日々を送る。2012年、世界中の傷ついたすべての人達にむけて NPO法人「OVER THE RAINBOW」設立。音楽や食を通して本格的に、生涯のミッションとして、支援を主宰する。

Graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Vocal music Musician, songwriter, singer, music producer A member of Japanese Society for rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers, an exclusive songwriter for Universal Music Publishing LLC (UMPG Japan) on worldwide basis.

After having debuted as a vocalist for a group called Cioccolata, she solo debuted from Sony Music Entertainment in 1991 with the album “Fine”. Since then she has been doing many collaborations with people like Stevie Wonder, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Clementine, Everything But The Girl, Taro Hakase, Gota Yashiki etc.. Up until now she has released 18 solo albums. Apart from her own musical activities, she has produced songs for many Japanese and international singers.

Recently she has succeeded her home sake brewery called Hasamaya Brewery as the 12th generation owner/brewer. Through her artistic eyes she is widening her creative fields including sake and food.

She has been participating in many charity activities since before the 311 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami incident. As one of the directors of a general incorporated association “Bikki Organization”, she is busy supporting the hearts and minds of the victimized children. Furthermore, in Autumn 2011, with a strong will she has founded a non-profit organization as a chairwoman called “Over the Rainbow”, which is an organization to support life itself. She founded this as her lifetime mission, leading the organization to support not just children but people all over the world through health care, agriculture, music and food.

2010 Japanese lyrics for the title of “The Phantom of the Opera II ? Love Never Dies”

She has also written music for many TV and radio advertisements, and for many animation programs.
