At the second Music Business Worldwide awards held last night, Universal Music Publishing Group artists and team took home four awards.
Caroline Elleray was named the second ever recipient of the 'Sir George Martin' Award, which recognises an A&R executive with a track record of fostering meaningful artist and songwriter relationships, and who has garnered widespread respect amongst the creative community. Coldplay shared their appreciation with a heartfelt video message followed by the award presented to Caroline by Laura Mvula and Dan Smith (Bastille).
The hugely successful Steve Mac, who was recently awarded the ASCAP Founders award, took home both 'Songwriter of the Year' and 'Producer of the Year' awards - each voted on by a panel of more than 100 A&R professionals across the globe.
And finally, Universal Music Publishing were presented with the 'Publisher of the Year' award.
MD Mike McCormack said “This is a huge honour and a fantastic reflection on the solid work the whole A&R team have been doing this year. The standing ovation Caroline received last night from the entire room shows how much she is respected, admired and loved by her peers and the whole creative community within the UK music business. The other big highlight of the evening was our superstar writer/producer Steve Mac picking up both Producer of the Year AND Songwriter of the Year! In all my years of working in the music industry I don’t remember such a run of success like Steve has had in 2017.”
Congratulations to all our winners!
