Universal Music Publishing have signed multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Tom Walker.
Signed to Sony’s Relentless Records, Tom has spent the past few years honing his sound, part influenced by landing in a house share with twelve other musicians, all jamming together in their home-built, soundproofed studio. His distinctive, engaging sound has drawn comparisons with artists such as Finley Quaye, Hozier and Ed Sheeran. Tom’s vocals have been described by Dan Cairns in the Sunday Times as bearing a resemblance to “Paulo Nutini’s sandpapered rasp and Amy Winehouse’s distinctive phonetics”.
Tom is an exciting new talent, and has already gained support from Clash, Pigeons & Planes, Q Magazine and SBTV, as well as BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Beats1 and BBC Introducing. His debut EP is set for release in March and is produced by Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, Adele).
