ATLANTA, GA — Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) and its songwriters swept the BMI 2016 R&B/Hip Hop Awards winning 22 awards including Publisher of the Year, Song of the Year (“See You Again” from the film Furious 7) Songwriter of the Year (which went to multi-platinum recording artist Chris Brown) and Producer of the Year (which went to Metro Boomin). The company has won the coveted Publisher of the Year award three out of the past four years.
Ethiopia Habtemariam, UMPG's President of Urban Music/Co-Head of Creative, Sterling Simms, UMPG Director of Creative, and Brandra Ringo, UMPG Senior Manager of Creative accepted the awards in Atlanta at the star-studded event, which recognized the songwriters and publishers of BMI’s most performed works.
UMPG songwriters honored at the event included Chris Brown, Future, Post Malone, Nicki Minaj, Ester Dean, Metro Boomin, Travis Scott, Invisible Men, Stephan Moccio, Sage The Gemini, Sebastian Kole, Pop Wansel, August Alsina, Micah Powell, Jhené Aiko, George Merrill, Shannon Rubicam, Sly Dunbar and Isaac Hayes.
