Neil Diamond
For Neil Diamond, it’s always started with a song. Over the course of his astonishing career Neil has sold more than 128 million albums worldwide. He’s charted 37 Top 40 singles and 16 Top 10 albums in the US. Neil’s 2008’s studio release ‘Home Before Dark’ debuted at #1 in the US and the UK. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and in 2011 was honoured by the Kennedy Center for his lifetime of contributions to American culture. Neil has been nominated for three Golden Globes, 13 Grammys, and was named NARAS’ MusiCares Person of the Year in 2009. But he never would have reached this world, from sold-out concerts to seventh-inning stretches, without his love for songwriting.
Before he became one of the most successful recording artists in the world, Neil Diamond’s earliest recognition came as a songwriter. He penned such Top 20 hits as ‘Sunday and Me’ by Jay and the Americans, ‘I’m a Believer’ and ‘A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You’ by The Monkees, ‘I’ll Come Running’ by Cliff Richard and ‘The Boat That I Row’ by British singer Lulu. As a solo artist Neil’s hits have included some of the most popular songs of all time, such as ‘Solitary Man’, ‘Cherry, Cherry’, ‘Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon’, ‘Kentucky Woman’, ‘Sweet Caroline (Good Times Never Seemed So Good)’, ‘If You Know What I Mean’ and the monumental Barbra Streisand duet ‘You Don’t Bring Me Flowers’, to name but a few. His soundtrack album for the film ‘The Jazz Singer’ consisted of songs he performed and wrote or co-wrote, including ‘Love on the Rocks’, ‘Hello Again’ and ‘America’. Neil’s songs have also been covered by countless acts, including Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, and Smashmouth. UB40’s version of Diamond’s ‘Red Red Wine’ topped the charts in both the US and UK. His music is regularly featured in films, television shows and select ads, all a tribute to Neil’s continuing popularity.
In October 2014 Neil released his new studio album 'Melody Road', through Capitol Records.
