Ryan Hurd created a major internet buzz almost overnight with the release of his debut single "We Do Us." Less than a week from its release date, "We Do Us" reached over a million streams on Spotify. The song is a feelgood celebration of a confident relationship. "I love the song because it's fun, sexy and kind of edgy and doesn't really sound like anything else that is out there at the moment, but it's still country music," Hurd tells Rolling Stone Country. "It's a really honest look at a fun part of a relationship. I think people really connect with that."
Not only has "We Do Us" been featured on Spofity's “New Music Friday” playlist, but it has also attracted attention from radio host Bobby Bones. On August 29th, Hurd was featured on "Bobby's Artists You Should Know" list.
"We Do Us," written by Hurd, Laura Veltz, and Mikey Reaves, is a glimpse into Ryan's upcoming album which is currently in the works. “I have it halfway mapped out and we can go any direction with the other half. I’m working with Aaron Eshuis, who’s going to produce it and some other people to work on some specific tracks. Matt Dragstrem and Busbee are going to be a part of it. All of those people are incredible producers and writers and techs in town. So it’s kind of fun to be able to conceptualize it and say ‘this can be anything that I want. I can work with anyone that I want.’ I’ve never felt more free creatively, I suppose. This is a really cool moment" says Hurd. As for his next step, Hurd will be joining Chase Rice on tour for the rest of the year.
