Following on from their multi-Platinum selling ‘No More Idols’, which spawned 7 A-list Radio 1 singles, Chase and Status release their third album ‘Brand New Machine’ today.
The first single from the new album - ‘Lost & Not Found’ featuring Louis M^ttrs - became a firm festival favourite over the summer and entered the UK Top 10. Second single ‘Count On Me’ - featuring an uplifting old school piano riff topped by emotive vocals from Moko - entered the UK singles chart at No. 5 today.
Talking about the album to DJ Mag, the duo expanded on the influences behind the album, “There are the '90s and the hardcore influences, The Prodigy influences, the '90s East Coast hip-hop influences… you know that whole kind of era. I guess the album is really inspired by the whole decade of the '90s.”
As Metro notes in its album review, however, ‘Brand New Machine’ is much more than a nostalgic glance at the past: “There’s too much ferocity and freshness here to make these tracks feel like a simple retro retread. The parts are familiar but the delivery packs a powerful kick.”
