The mighty Coldplay return to centre stage with their sixth studio album 'Ghost Stories', released through Parlophone today.
Featuring the singles 'Magic' and 'A Sky Full of Stars', 'Ghost Stories' sees Coldplay step back from the blazing energy of 2011's chart topping 'Mylo Xyloto'. Instead this new release takes an introspective turn with Chris Martin's trademark emotive vocal delivery overlaying a more atmospheric backdrop. In an interview with BBC Radio 1 Martin described the 9 track L.P as "42 minutes on an emotional treadmill", stating "although it starts off seeming like a heartbreak record" the album is actually about realisation and acceptance.
This sonic shift has won praise from the likes of Billboard who call 'Ghost Stories' an "evocative concoction of sullen phrases, sparse arrangements and powerful themes".
Since Coldplay's breakthough debut 'Parachutes" in 2000 the band have gained phenomenal critical and commercial success, winning 7 Grammy Awards and selling over 60 million albums worldwide.
