Disclosure’s extraordinary debut album ‘Settle’ (2013) consolidated their place at the forefront of a new wave of electronic music. It topped the charts, won numerous accolades and ushered in a new age that opened up dance music for the next generation of young music fans while refreshing and rejuvenating the scene for the rest.
A key moment in their rise to fame came with the incredible success of breakout single ‘Latch’, which was co-written by Jimmy Napes and featured vocals from the then unknown Sam Smith. Their new single ‘Omen’, released on August 21st, also co-written by Napes once again features vocals from the now global superstar Sam. ‘Omen’ will be the lead single from Disclosure’s eagerly awaited second album ‘Caracal’ released on September 25th.
The impact of ‘Latch’ back in 2012 helped turn both acts into global success stories in their own right. The track went on to be 2 x platinum in the US and platinum in the UK remaining in the top 30 for 16 consecutive weeks after its release. ‘Latch’ has had over 196.3 million streams on Spotify and video views across YouTube and Vevo are tipping the 175 million mark.
The appearance of Sam Smith on the new record was teased out recently to a phenomenal response from fans. Now they can hear the full track where Sam’s vocals fuse with inventive percussions before it erupts into one of the best choruses you’ll hear all year. The three days the brothers spent writing with Smith were a highlight of the writing process. “It was the most successful two days of songwriting we’d ever had,” remembers Guy. “We wrote five amazing songs, a few for Sam and Omen.”
The video for taster single ‘Holding On’ featuring Gregory Porter was the first instalment in the Caracal Film Series. Set in a futuristic dystopian city, the short film follows the protagonist Mariella as her dark secret is slowly unveiled. Directed by Ryan Hope, ‘Omen’ delivers the next episode in the developing story.
