Rae Morris’ debut album 'Unguarded' (with production by Fryars, Ariel Rechtshaid and Jim Eliot), deals head on with the highs and lows that come with life-changing, character-building relationships. Over the course of the 12-track album there’s a rare honesty emanating from the lofty choruses and sophisticated melodies that leaves you in no doubt that Rae has worked hard to stand her ground and make the record she wanted to make.
She explains: “I’ve always liked to visualise things in circular patterns in my mind. A full circle journey, a complete tale and a finished story. I see my album as a coming-of-age tale, from start to finish, from then to now. I guess it's a series of diary entries documenting these important years of growing up and learning. I’m not trying to be cryptic. It's really simple. That's just how I see it. I’m just being completely myself.”
Rae is truly the musician’s musician, and, alongside the plethora of critical acclaim from the press, has already garnered huge support with the likes of Chris Martin, Haim, and Laura Mvula all showing her some serious love.
‘Under the Shadows’, the first single from the album, was released in January 2015.
