CHVRCHES release 'Every Open Eye'

CHVRCHES today release their hugely anticipated second album ‘Every Open Eye’ via Virgin EMI / Goodbye Records. The album is the follow up to the band’s breakthrough debut ‘The Bones of What You Believe’, which was released in autumn 2013 to widespread critical acclaim and went on to sell over 500,000 copies worldwide.

Musically, ‘Every Open Eye’ seeks to do more with less; to make something intense and urgent and visceral, using the basic tools of melody, rhythm and arrangement. The album develops CHVRCHES’ signature style, juxtaposing the light and the dark, creating their own brand of twisted pop music that uniquely merges the organic with the electronic, moulding sounds and ideas forged over two years on the road into an electronic-pop record with a heart. Lyrically, ‘Every Open Eye’ is about past heartbreaks and getting over them; about being unapologetic and not being told what to do or who to be; and about moving on to better things, and letting go of the bad.

The album has already been delighting critics. The Guardian award 4 out of 5 stars, calling ‘Every Open Eye’ “an assured follow-up to their US-conquering debut… picking out its predecessor’s stadium-pop moments and turning up the intensity.” NME ‘s verdict on the album is “a delightful blend of giant dance anthems, heart-bursting emotion and fight” whilst The Verge declare: “You might not hear a better pop record this year.”
