Disclosure’s extraordinary debut album ‘Settle’ saw the brothers top the charts, win numerous accolades and secure their place at the forefront of a new wave of electronic music. With ‘Caracal’, their second album (released today on PMR / Island Records) they assert themselves as hugely talented songwriters.
“We feel like a band now, instead of just releasing tracks for the club” explains Howard. “We wanted to really step out with a solid body of work and tour for two years. We’re very much an album band.”
A number of exciting collaborators appear on ‘Caracal’, including Lion Babe, Kwabs, Lorde, Gregory Porter, Miguel, Nao, Sam Smith and The Weeknd. Howard continues: “We wanted to write songs with loads of singers so there are no instrumentals. When you get the chance to work with amazing people you want to make the most of them.”
NME award the album 4/5 and conclude that “‘Caracal’ is about Disclosure maturing, moving on and showing the listener how to rave respectably. This is dance music for grown-ups.”
Whatever you call it - Disclosure are still doing what they do best - taking house and giving it a massive injection of musicality.
