Jay-Jay Johanson releases new album 'Rorschach Test'

Rorschach Test is the newest venture of the Swedish trip-hop Crooner Jay-Jay Johanson who’s been hailed as one of the most influential artists and best voices of his generation, a pioneer, a legend. On his 13th album Rorschach Test Jay-Jay has captured something magical on every track. A strong sign that he’s still on top of his game.

The ten compelling songs on Rorschach Test mark an accumulation of the diverse musical influences of Jay-Jay Johanson, still keeping with the rich soundtrack-like genre he presented on his early albums. This new record takes the listener through a sequence of moods, from extremely intimate and beautiful to violently raw and powerful. Rorschach Test also sees a progression into a richer, more complex sensibility, with his unmistakable voice present to guide us at every moment.

Already 25 years ago when Jay-Jay Johanson’s debut album Whiskey was released the first reactions were - "like if Chet Baker sang with Portishead" and "if Massive Attack invited Frank Sinatra to the studio" - this description fits better now than ever on the new Jay-Jay album Rorschach Test.

The opening track 'Romeo' leads us straight to the core of what this is all about, the lush warm beautiful voice followed by an intriguing peculiar trippy drum beat and mesmerising innovative keyboards.

Two years after the album Kings Cross and his most commercial success hit single so far 'Heard Somebody Whistle', Jay-Jay Johanson is now back with his 13th album Rorschach Test recorded in the Break My Heart Studio in the Stockholm archipelago.

“Jay-Jay Johanson, the great crooner of the electronic era, known for his evocative and melancholic voice that’s reminiscent of the romantic singers from days gone by” – Time Out
