With a UK theatrical release on August 3rd, 'London - The Modern Babylon' is a film by director Julien Temple ('Absolute Beginners', 'The Great Rock and Roll Swindle'), looking at the capital city of London and focusing on the diverse mix of people who make their homes here.
Using archive footage from the start of the 20th century right up until the present day, in true Temple style there is some fascinating coverage of London’s musical history. The film ends in 2012 with London preparing to welcome the world to the Olympics, and will be shown as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
Universal Music Publishing Group have a host of classic songs in the film including The Clash ‘London Calling’, Sex Pistols ‘Anarchy In The U.K’, Roxy Music ‘Do The Strand’, Dire Straits ‘Money For Nothing’, Lily Allen ‘The Fear’ and Crystal Fighters 'I Love London'.
'London - The Modern Babylon' airs UK TV on BBC2, Saturday 11th August at 21.20.
