UMPG’s Film & TV team have placed songs from our catalogue in a wide range of Christmas commercials this year – our writers are taking over your TV.
Asda - Best Christmas Ever | Christmas Advert 2017
Song: “Don’t Stop” written by Christine McVie, performed by Fleetwood Mac.
Featuring the unmistakably joyous 'Don’t Stop', Asda’s Best Christmas Ever is a fantastical, Willy Wonka-inspired look behind the scenes at festive preparation. Complete with microscopic chefs and a gin-firing cannon, the journey through the supermarket giant’s ‘Imaginarium’ is given extra sparkle by the Fleetwood Mac Rumours classic, written by Christie McVie back in 1976.
House Of Fraser - Bring Merry Back - House of Fraser Christmas Advert 2017
Song: 'Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas' written by Deanie Parker, performed by the Staple Singers.
Set to The Staple Singers’ 'Who Took The Merry Out Of Christmas', House Of Fraser’s Christmas ad follows directing sisters Vaughan and Anthea – famous for their roles behind music videos for the likes of George Michael, Simply Red and Jamiroquai – reunited after more than 20 years apart. With the soulful tones of the legendary group, themselves with family ties, it is a heart-warming clip full of festive cheer.
Amazon - Amazon Christmas Advert 2017 - 'Give' 60"
Song: 'Give a Little' written by Roger Hodgson and Richard Davies (re-recorded)
With a re-recording of perennial hit 'Give A Little Bit' – written by Roger Hodgson and Richard Davies – Amazon have created one of the most smile-inducing adverts of the Christmas period. Following the helter-skelter journey of a group of Amazon orders, we see singing boxes make their way from the packaging line to the open arms of a grateful girl.
The Range - Christmas TV Ad 2017
Song: 'Anything You Can Do' written by Irving Berlin (re-recorded)
The Range are highlighting that competitive edge that can come with all-things Christmas. From light displays to matching festive outfits, Irving Berlin’s 'Anything You Can Do' – here performed by Doris Day & Robert Goulet from hit musical Annie Get Your Gun – perfectly evokes both the Chirstmassy feel as well as hitting the lyrical sentiment of the campaign perfectly; “Go one better at The Range this Christmas.”
