UMPG artists feature +in this year’s BFI London Film Festival , dotted around soundtracks and as the subject of films.
‘Calm With Horses’ features music by Paul Weller, The xx, Thin Lizzy and Dre Murray, while ‘RUN’ sees Bruce Springsteen, Rae Morris, Chvrches, Fredo, Earthgang, Lil Xan, Amine and Roxette sit side by side on the soundtrack.
‘Mystify: Michael Hutchence’, the story of Michael Hutchence and INXS will receive its UK release during the festival, featuring a number of the band’s classic hits, and The Clash take centre stage in ‘White Riot’ (the namesake of their debut single), a documentary which looks at Rock Against Racism – the punk-reggae protest movement that turned into a major multicultural event.
Celebrating the release of his nineteenth studio album, Bruce Springsteen gives fans a closer look at the album in ‘Western Stars’ – a hybrid of concert documentary and memoir that sees him perform the new album in full.
Sigur Rós’ Alex Somers scored ‘Honey Boy’, which hits the UK after its premier at the Sundance Film Festival in January, while Laura Mvula wrote the powerful end credits tune for ‘Clemency.’
Elsewhere, Craig Robots’ ‘Eternal Beauty’ contains ‘I Will Survive’ by Gloria Gaynor and Irving Berlin’s ‘Blue Skies’ and the Philip Green dramatisation 'Greed' will feature ABBA’s ‘Money Money Money.’
London Film Fest takes place from 2-13 October 2019.
