‘World, You Need a Change of Mind’ is the debut album from Adam Bainbridge, aka Kindness.
The talented producer first made himself heard in 2009 with a release on Moshi Moshi called ‘Swingin’ Party’ – a cover of the Replacement’s ‘Swingin’ Time’. He returned in October 2011 with ‘Cyan’, followed by ‘SEOD’ in February 2012.
Kindness has a tendency towards the mysterious, hiding behind his long hair and producing beautifully designed but wordless album artwork – down to his belief that “ninety-five per cent of everything you should want to know about a new artist should be in the record”. The album was co-produced with Grammy award winning producer Philippe Zdar from Cassius, who has worked with Phoenix, the Rapture and the Beastie Boys. It takes in a diverse array of influences – from New York disco to art-house funk, via smooth R&B and off-kilter pop.
The album will be available exclusively from Rough Trade shops from Monday 5th March, followed a full release on 19th March. The single ‘Gee Up’ is released on Monday 12th March, and is accompanied by a brilliant self parodying video.
