Paul Weller prepares to release his eleventh studio album this month - the follow up to 2010’s highly acclaimed and Mercury nominated ‘Wake Up The Nation’.
Despite having a back catalogue that many musicians could only dream of, Weller has never been one to sit back and enjoy the fruits of his illustrious career, declaring; “I’ve only ever been about what’s next, really, and I’ll be that way until I keel over.”
‘Sonik Kicks’ is set for release on 19th March, and promises to deliver, “pop art punch with soulful communication; jazzy explorations into psychedelia and dub with razor-sharp melodies and abstract soundscapes with clear-eyed forest-folk.” The album was recorded in Weller’s own studio in Surrey, and features collaborations with artists including Noel Gallagher, Graham Coxon and Aziz Ibrahi – often playing instruments outside of their usual repertoire.
The second single from the album ‘Dangerous Age’ is out on March 12th. According to Weller the track is; “a bit tongue in cheek.... I guess it’s about how society views people of a certain age. For me, does it really matter what age you are? It’s what's up there in your soul that matters.”
