Richard Hawley will release his seventh studio album ‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ on Monday 7th May.
As with previous albums, ‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ is inspired by his home city of Sheffield. Despite the familiar theme, however, the album marks a dramatic change of musical direction for Hawley. He explains; “I wanted to get away from the orchestration of my previous records and make a live album with two guitars, bass, drums and rocket noises!”
This new sound has won him high praise from the media, with The Word describing ‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ as, “a full-blown, widescreen psychedelic rock album – and it’s a masterpiece” and The Guardian awarding the album five stars.
The first single from the album ‘Leave Your Body Behind You’ was released as part of Record Store Day, along with bonus track ‘You Haunt Me’.
‘Standing at the Sky’s Edge’ is released on Monday 7th May on Parlophone.
