The Vaccines release their second studio album ‘The Vaccines Come of Age’ today – the follow up to their debut ‘What Did You Expect From The Vaccines?’
The 11-track album was recorded at the ICP studios in Brussels and Distillery in Bath with producer Ethan Johns. 'No Hope', the first single from the album was released in July, with the second single ‘Teenage Icon’ released today alongside the album.
Frontman Justin Young explains that with ‘The Vaccines Come of Age’ the band is striving to “sound like The Vaccines. We needed to work out which characteristics are going to make people compare bands to The Vaccines in five or ten years time. It's quite a searching record in that sense.”
Highlights include the groove-driven ‘Bad Mood’, the timeless ‘Lonely World’ and the new wave-influenced ‘Aftershave Ocean’.
Reviewing the album, NME describe The Vaccines as “a damn fine specimen of a band on the way to something great”, whilst Clash Music calls the album “a brave and stunning progression”. The band have big dreams for the future; “I want to mean something to somebody,” says Young. “I want to keep getting better and better, and if bigger and bigger is a by-product of that, then that’s awesome. Quite simply, I want us to be your favourite band.”
