Angel releases debut album 'About Time'

Angel releases his debut album ‘About Time’ today on Island Records.

Having been dubbed "the new face of UK R'n'B" by the BBC and "Britain’s first all-singing, all-writing and producing urban boy wonder" by The Guardian, 2012 saw Angel make the transition from underground producer to pop star. He received two nominations at the 2012 MOBO Awards, embarked on a sell-out headline tour, and his single ‘Wonderful’ went Top 10.

Co-written and co-produced by Angel, his debut LP ‘About Time’ boasts a kaleidoscope of musical influences and references. Highlights include the beautifully melodic ‘Rocket Love’ (written alongside Frank Ocean), ‘More Fire’ - a reggae influenced track with a heavy bassline, the rhythmic Wretch 32 collaboration ‘Secrets’, the reflective ‘Day Done’, and of course infectious R&B masterclass ‘Wonderful’ and new single ‘The World’.

Talking about the album to 4Music Angel says, “I feel like it’s been a long time coming... I do feel like my time is now." And he’s not the only one with that opinion - The Guardian award 4 stars to ‘About Time, praising the “sweet, swooping vocals” with an “authentically British dash of melancholy” – and finish off with a warning; “Labrinth and Taio Cruz, start looking over your shoulders”.
