The nominations for the 56th Grammy Awards were announced on Friday, with Disclosure, James Blake, Florence Welch, Adele and Coldplay amongst the UMP writers in the running for an award.
Disclosure’s album ‘Settle’ is up for Best Dance/Electronic Album. It’s been a fantastic year for the duo, as their debut album entered the UK charts at No. 1, earned them a Mercury nomination, and they were acclaimed as defining “the dancefloor sound of 2013” (Q Magazine).
James Blake is nominated for Best New Artist. His second album ‘Overgrown’ won this year’s Mercury Music Prize and received widespread critical acclaim.
Calvin Harris feat. Florence Welch’s single ‘Sweet Nothing’ is in the running for Best Dance Recording. It gave Florence her second number one single when it was released in October 2012.
Coldplay’s ‘Atlas’ (written for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire') and Adele’s ‘Skyfall’ (written for the James Bond film of the same name) were both nominated for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
The 56th Grammy Awards will be held on 26th January at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.
