Universal Music Publishing artists have featured in several end of year lists highlighting new talent for 2013.
The influential BBC Sound of 2013 shortlist featured AlunaGeorge at No. 2 and Laura Mvula at No. 4. Speaking to the BBC about their ranking, George Reid, one half of AlunaGeorge, explained, "There is a little bit more pressure now because people expect a certain level or certain feel to the music, but that pressure is a massive blessing."
MTV’s Brand New for 2013 selection featured three UMP artists – with Disclosure, Gabrielle Aplin and Rascals all featured. The winner will be chosen by public vote and announced on 1st February.
The Times have placed Laura Mvula at No. 3 in the 'Culture' section of their 'New Power List', which nominates 100 people to watch in 2013.
The Guardian featured Laura Mvula and AlunaGeorge in their ‘Hot Right Now’ round-up. Talking about her forthcoming album to The Guardian, Laura Mvula explained, “I just think what I’m doing is interesting, and I can’t wait to see the response to this project”.
Time Out's round-up includes Post War Years, describing the quartet from Leamington Spa as "the future of indie-pop now".
