The 2015 Mercury Prize nominations were announced today, with four of the twelve acts on the shortlist signed to Universal Music Publishing.
Florence + The Machine has received her second nomination, for her third album ‘How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful’. The nomination continues what has already been an incredible year for Florence, who headlined Glastonbury and topped both the US and UK charts with her third album.
Ghostpoet has also received his second nomination - for his third album ‘Shedding Skin’. The album received widespread critical acclaim – described as a “masterpiece” by DIY mag, whilst Clash named Ghostpoet a “rock maverick below the pop radar”
Jamie xx receives his first solo nomination for the album ‘In Colour’ – which went Top 10 in 10 countries and has been described as “an album so rich, complex and dazzlingly fluid" by Q magazine. And finally the incredibly talented SOAK’s beautifully raw ‘Before I Forgot How To Dream’ (“a heartfelt self-assured debut” – The Guardian) has also been nominated.
The awards will be held in the Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House in London on Friday 20 November.
