Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading global publishing company, today announced that U.K. rock band You Me At Six (YMAS) has been signed to a global publishing deal starting with the band’s newest album, VI, and continuing through all future works.
Self-described as “a band that straddles styles” by singer Josh Franceschi, YMAS released VI just weeks ago racking up over 10 million streams. A creative departure from their previous albums, the record travels effortlessly between sounds and moods, from defiant rock to joyous, uplifting pop.
An established musical group of proven songwriters, YMAS has previously written numerous No. 1 UK hits including “Lived A Lie”, “The Swarm”, “Fresh Start Fever”, “Reckless” and “Take on the World”. Five of the band’s albums have reached Top 10 in the UK: Cavalier Youth which debuted at No. 1; Hold Me Down; Sinners Never Sleep; Night People; and VI.
YMAS said: “We're really excited to have joined the Universal Publishing family. Their ambition as a company matches us as musicians, and we are looking forward to a creative and collaborative future with them.”
UMPG UK MD Mike McCormack said: “We are so chuffed to be working with YMAS and their great management team in Stefano and Colin who we have a long-standing relationship with. It’s a brilliant, new, innovative record from them, packed full of cracking tunes.”
Having formed in 2004, the band’s five members include singer Franceschi, guitarists Max Helyer, Chris Miller and Matt Barnes (who also performs/provides backup vocals), and drummer Dan Flint. YMAS has toured extensively including on The Warped Tour and the Soundwave Music Festival. They have won nine Kerrang! Awards including Best British Band three times.
