Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading global publishing company, today announced that award-winning songwriter and musician Dan Sells has been signed to a global publishing deal. Perhaps best known as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of rock band The Feeling, Dan has a wealth of achievements under his belt.
In The Feeling, Dan achieved a No.1 album (with their second release, ‘Join With Us’), while their debut ‘Twelve Stops and Home’ selling over a million copies. The band released their fifth album in March 2016.
Aside from his career with The Feeling Dan has had an extensive career co-writing for other musicians, like Sophie Ellis-Bexter and for TV and theatre. In 2008, he made his foray into TV, writing the theme tune for BBC comedy drama Beautiful People. In 2014, Sells began a collaboration with choreographer Javier de Frutos on a ballet piece entitled ‘3 with D’ which premiered at The London Coliseum.
Most recently, Dan made his theatre debut with ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’. The award-winning musical opened at The West End’s Apollo Theatre in November of last year and continues to run, with a movie version going into production this year in collaboration with Warp Film and Film4.
Dan was the recipient of the 2007 Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year. Other awards include Best Composer at The Stage Debut Awards 2017.
