UMPG Presents... Perfect Songs Publishing

UMPG Presents... Perfect Songs Publishing

Universal Music Publishing Group is proud to announce it has acquired Perfect Songs.

Perfect Songs was founded in 1981 as a music publishing catalogue by songwriter and musician Trevor Horn and his wife, businesswoman Jill Sinclair, and his Art of Noise colleague, Paul Morley. This was swiftly followed by their record label, ZTT, a year later. Among the first acts on both were Trevor Horn and Paul Morley’s synth-pop band Art of Noise, Propaganda and Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

One of the most sampled artists in history, Art of Noise’s pioneering songs and recorded works have been reimagined and used by the likes of Charlie XCX, Fatboy Slim, Flying Lotus, Lil Wayne, Mac Miller, The Prodigy and more.

Another early Perfect Songs signing, UMPG will now publish Propaganda’s groundbreaking ‘Dr. Mabuse’, ‘Duel’, and ‘p:Machinery’.

The Perfect Songs catalogue features some of the biggest hits of the 80s such as decade-defining tracks from Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s ‘Relax’ and ‘Two Tribes’, Seal’s multi-platinum catalogue (much of which is produced by Trevor Horn) including the triple Grammy Award-winning ‘Kiss From A Rose’, and Grace Jones’ seventh studio album ‘Slave to the Rhythm’. Produced by Trevor Horn, and co-written by Simon Darlow and Stephen Lipson, the album spawned Jones’ biggest hit in the album’s title track.

Other Top 10 Perfect Songs hits include Mark Morrison’s inimitable ‘Return of the Mack’, Duran Duran’s ‘All You Need Is Now’ (co-written by Dominic Brown), Tim Hutton co-writes with Groove Armada (including ‘Song 4 Mutya’) and The Prodigy (on their sixth album ‘The Day Is My Enemy’), and Andrew Poppy’s ‘The Object is a Hungry Wolf’ and ‘32 Frames’.

The Perfect Songs acquisition also sees UMPG representing contemporary songwriters Atom Tree, Joel Baker, Sam Ritchie and Secaina Hudson, and working on future song writing opportunities with songwriters Aaron Horn, Anita Blay, Fred Cox and Will Heard.

UMPG are thrilled to be working with and representing Perfect Songs’ roster of iconic and talented songwriters and are looking forward to building on their global success by creating even more creative and commercial opportunities for their impressive song collection.
