UMPG writers Sting, Florence Welch, Harry Styles, Kid Harpoon, and composer John Powell (Warner Bros Pictures), were all honoured at the 2023 Ivor Novello Awards, with Amazon Music.
Sting received the Academy Fellowship - the highest honour it can bestow. Speaking previously when the Fellowship was announced, Sting said: “I am delighted and honoured to be offered this Fellowship of the Academy, joining and acknowledging this extraordinary group of fellow songwriters, and all of those who went before us.”
Florence Welch received the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically for ‘King’. Accepting the award on her behalf, UMPG Chairman & CEO Jody Gerson said: “We are very proud and honoured to represent [Florence Welch] and love her very much, and she is so appreciative of this award, thank you. “
Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon were awarded PRS For Music Most Performed Work for the global hit single ‘As It Was’. On collecting the award for them, Jody Gerson said: “What a true honour it is to represent songwriters, I could pinch myself being here today.”
Composer John Powell (Warner Bros Pictures) won Best Original Film Score for 'Don’t Worry Darling'.
