UMPG signs Jack Leonard - talented writer, producer and co-founder of big beat project Cheapcuts

Welcome to the UMPG family Jack Leonard!

Co-founder of big beat project Cheapcuts, writer and producer Jack got his break as James Lavelle’s right-hand man in UNKLE, writing and producing two studio albums (The Road I & ii) and collaborating with artists such as Queens Of The Stoneage, A$AP Rocky, Mick Jones (The Clash) and Mark Lanegan.

“We’re so thrilled to sign Jack Leonard to UMPG! I’ve known and been a fan of Jack and his incredible work for years, so it feels particularly special to announce him as our first sync-focused signing. He brings such a natural knack for the infectious writing and production that lends itself to sync opportunities we see every day. We all can’t wait to work together with Jack on bespoke music for sync, and of course supporting with the roll out of very exciting new Cheapcuts music.” – Amy Samson, Senior Creative Manager, Sync/A&R

“Jack signing to UMPG is the first deal we’ve ever done which utilises our sync / A&R role. It’s an idea Amy Samson brought to us and has been instrumental in shaping and masterminding the past couple of years. We have been waiting for the ideal launch pad, and Jack is the perfect fit. A world class songwriter in his own right, and a phenomenal sync writer with some of the most important usages over the past few years. Between both the A&R and sync teams we have a brilliant opportunity to write a blueprint with Jack.” – Pete Simmons, Head of A&R, UMPG UK

As well as touring the world as UNKLE’s lead guitarist, Jack composed the score for the critically acclaimed TV series Trust (FX), working alongside director Danny Boyle. His writing and producing credits include Michael Kiwanuka, Sam Ryder, Caity Baser, Joe Unknown, Banners, Thomas Headon, Baby Queen, and Ellur.
