US Open commercials featuring Serena Williams

US Open commercials featuring Serena Williams

Songs from the UMPG catalog soundtrack two outstanding commercials airing during the US Open. Both spots feature Serena Williams and explore the theme of balancing motherhood with being an athlete, but in very different ways.

Nicki Minaj ft. Eminem & Labrinth "Majesty" provides the attitude-laden soundtrack to Beats by Dre’s new commercial. The spot, directed by Dave Meyers, features Serena Williams “Queen of Queens” torn between her role as a mother and an athlete, ending with Nicki Minaj declaring, “now watch the Queen conquer." “Majesty” was co-written by UMPG writers Nicky Minaj and Eminem.

LL Cool J “Mama Said Knock You Out” for Chase combines shots of Williams putting her daughter to sleep and training on the tennis court. The powerful spot also features the tennis champion reciting lyrics from the song, opening with; “Don’t call it a comeback, I’ve been here for years.” The song is published by UMPG via writers James Todd Smith (LL Cool J), Gregory E. Jacobs and Marlon Lu'Ree Williams.
