MIAMI – July 30, 2018 – Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading global music publisher, today announced the signing of Miami-based independent label and publisher Rich Music Inc to an exclusive publishing agreement.
Founded in 2007 by father-and-son team Rich and Josh Mendez, Rich Music Inc specializes in Latin Urban music. Their roster includes Justin Quiles, signed to Warner Music Latin, who has become a household name with over 1 billion views on YouTube and 6.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Other signed acts include Dímelo Flow, Dalex, Magnífico, Sech, Barbara Doza, DJ Africa and Chris Marsh. In 2017, Rich Music was nominated for Latin Rhythm Albums Label of the Year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
The company’s growing publishing division contains Justin Quiles’ catalog, including hits such as “Downtown” by Anitta & J Balvin, “Quédate” by Andy Rivera, “Pierde Los Modales” by J Balvin & Daddy Yankee, and tracks featuring top Latin Urban artists such as Bad Bunny, Don Omar, Farruko, Yandel, Brytiago, Nacho, Osmani García and more. Recent releases include “Hora Loca” by DJ Africa, Justin Quiles & Jencarlos Canela, “La Baby” by Barbara Doza, “No Quiero Amarte” by Justin Quiles feat. In May 2018, Rich Music signed a long-term distribution deal with INgrooves. The company initially established itself in the industry by signing artist Grind to a joint venture deal with Rapper Yung Joc & Jive Records.
Rich Music joins UMPG Latin’s recent signings which include: Dominican artist/producer Brasa (Juan Frías), whose recent hits include “Sensualidad” by Bad Bunny, J Balvin & Prince Royce, “Solo Yo” by CNCO and “Explícale” by Yandel; Puerto Rican producer Guelo Star (Miguel De Jesús), who co-wrote Wisin & Yandel’s “Todo Comienza En La Disco” and White Lion Records artist Joyce Santana.
