UMPG signs hitmaker Horacio Palencia to exclusive global publishing agreement

Universal Music Publishing Group México, a division of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), a leading, global music publisher, has signed an exclusive, worldwide agreement with singer-songwriter Horacio Palencia.

Palencia was named Regional Mexican Songwriter of the Year at this year’s 28th Annual BMI Latin Awards, an accolade he’s received seven times, most recently in 2016 and 2017. With a catalog surpassing 500 songs, the two-time Latin Grammy nominated writer has delivered a string of charting hits for artists such as Banda MS, La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, Los Ángeles Azules, La Adictiva, Belinda, Banda Los Sebastianes, Luis Fonsi, Carlos Rivera, Yuridia, Grupo Firme, including fellow UMPG collaborators Christian Nodal and Sebastián Yatra, and for his own solo career.

Alexandra Lioutikoff, UMPG President for Latin America and US Latin, said: “We are amazed at Horacio’s numerous achievements and versatility as a songwriter. His much-deserved success evidences his hard work ethic and he’s a joy to work with. We are very excited for this new opportunity to collaborate.”

Yadira Moreno, Managing Director for UMPG Mexico, Central America and VP New Business Development, Latin America, said: “We have always admired Horacio’s unique talent for storytelling with his songs. UMPG’s family is thrilled to offer him a home for all his songs. Our new agreement will allow us to foster even further his art with the love and passion he deserves.”

Horacio Palencia said: “I’m very happy to have made this decision because I know that my songs will be in good hands at UMPG. I now have the peace of mind of having my past and future catalog in one home, which will allow me to continue writing new songs. I’m always grateful to UMPG for their fantastic job in supporting my career as a songwriter.”

After co-writing several hit songs for the Latin Grammy Award winning album “A Través del Vaso” by Banda Los Sebastianes, participating in projects by La Ejecutiva and La Arrolladora, and writing the upcoming single for Grupo Firme “Como La Palma De Mi Mano,” Horacio is focusing on his artist career, having released two singles recently: “Traviesa (Remix)” a collaboration with Raymix and Aczino, and Horacio’s solo single “Con Ojos de Amor.”
