UMPG wins the prestigious 2024 SESAC “Publisher of the Year” award for Regional Mexican

Yahritza y Su Esencia, one of Regional Mexican’s leading groups signed to UMPG, won the coveted “Song of the Year” award for their hit “Frágil”

Multiple UMPG Latin songwriters were among those honored at last night’s gala

Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) was recognized during the 2024 SESAC Latin Music Awards for its contribution to the growth of Regional Mexican music. With the genre’s continued growth, UMPG was honored today with the “Publisher of the Year – Regional Mexican” award. As the genre continues to dominate charts and reach historic levels of popularity, UMPG is at the forefront of a movement that’s led by its incredible roster of artists. The 2024 SESAC Latin Music Awards took place on Wednesday, June 26 at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

About the recognition, Jody Gerson, Chairman and CEO of UMPG said, "We are thrilled that UMPG has been recognized by SESAC for our contributions toward the continuing growth of Regional Mexican music, especially those of Alexandra Lioutikoff and her incredible team. This award is clearly a testament to our extremely talented songwriters, both established and new, who are expanding the boundaries of the genre through their songs. Congrats to all!"

In addition, President of UMPG U.S. Latin and Latin America, Alexandra Lioutikoff, said, "We're honored to be named SESAC Regional Mexican Publisher of The Year. The creativity of our writers and producers knows no bounds. I'm happy to see that Musica Mexicana has been embraced by a larger audience.”

UMPG had a second reason to celebrate, as chart-topping group and UMPG songwriter, Yahritza y Su Esencia, won the coveted “Song of the Year” awards for their collaboration with Grupo Frontera, “Frágil”. The song, which surpassed 440 million streams across digital platforms and 200 million YouTube views, marked Yahritza y Su Esencia's first No. 1 on Billboard's “Regional Mexican Airplay” chart.

Aside from celebrating the “Song of the Year” honor, multiple UMPG Latin songwriters were celebrated by 2024 SESAC Latin Music Awardslast night. Among those recognized are:

2. “Se Buscan Borrachos” (Salvador Aponte, Meño Segovia) Performer: Gerardo Coronel 
3. “De Memoria Me Las Sé” (Juan Diego Sandoval Macías, Fernando Camacho Tirado, Esaul Garcia Morales) | Performer: La Arrolladora 
4. “A Mí Me Gustas Tú” (Ramón Alejandro Hernández Ceballos, Ilse Karina Ibarra Valladares) | Performer: Los Rojos 
5. “No Se Va” (Juan Pablo Isaza Pineros, Juan Pablo Villamil Cortés, Simón Vargas Morales, Mauricio Rengifo, Andrés Torres, Martín Vargas Morales) | Performer: Grupo Frontera 

The annual SESAC Latin Music Awards Gala recognizes the exceptional talent and achievements of its affiliated songwriters and publishers, awarding top honors in multiple categories, including “Song of the Year” and “Publisher of the Year”, among others.
