On 15th September 2012 Ilse DeLange released her seventh studio album ‘Eye of the Hurricane’ – the follow up to 2010’s double Platinum selling ‘Next To Me’. ‘Eye of the Hurricane’ is the first album Ilse has recorded in the Netherlands, and this time she produced the album herself.  The album went straight to the top of the Dutch charts on release, going Gold almost immediately – with singles ‘Hurricane’ and ‘Winter of Love’ receiving heavy radio support.

Crystal Castles have released their third studio album ‘III’. The album was recorded mostly in Warsaw and Berlin, with the duo taking a different approach from their previous LPs  - enforcing a ‘no computers’ rule, and recording everything direct to tape.

The album has already caused a stir amongst fans and critics alike, with NME awarding it 9/10 and declaring,“Being doomed never sounded so beautiful” whilst The Independent  (4/5) suggest, “If the Mayans were right and the world really is going to end this December, you won't hear many better soundtracks than this.”

Coldplay are set to release their first ever concert film ‘Live 2012’ on Monday 19th November. In advance of the DVD release, cinemas in over 50 countries around the world will be premiering the film as a special one-off screening on Tuesday 13th November. Click through to watch the trailer.

Dutch songwriting / production team Future Presidents have obtained worldwide success with ‘Electric Shock’ – a track performed by hugely popular Korean girlband f(x). The track was released in June 2012, and within an hour it achieved an ‘all-kill’ across various Korean music portals. ‘Electrick Shock’ went to No. 1 in Korea, topped the electronic music charts in the US and Canada and charted in numerous other countries around the world. It quickly became one of the most popular videos on YouTube, with over 14 million views in only two weeks.

Mumford & Sons release their second studio album ‘Babel’ today – the hugely anticipated follow up to their Brit award winning debut ‘Sigh No More’. Having sold over 4 million copies of their first album, as well as picking up a Mercury Prize nomination and six Grammy nominations, the band “wanted to do something unashamed,” says Ben Lovett. “We’re confident and happy to be where we are... everything that’s happened with us has exceeded expectations, and it’s all been a surprise, it’s all much bigger than what we were prepared for."

Universal Music Publishing is very excited to welcome the supremely talented Jessie Ware to UMPG. The London born singer songwriter has been causing something of a stir with her soulful vocals and effortlessly elegant songwriting skills. Her debut album ‘Devotion’ has attracted rave reviews: NME described it as, “Both contemporary and timeless… a record filled with moments that bring you to your knees”, whilst Pitchfork calls it, “A uniquely soulful masterclass.”

Universal Music Publishing is delighted to welcome Alabama Shakes, with their unique and brilliant take on rock 'n' roll, to the UMPG family. Described by the New York Times as, "a thunderbolt dressed in bluejeans", whose music is "aching when it’s slow and growling and whooping when it’s fast", they've quickly proved themselves a major musical force to be reckoned with.

Songs from numerous Universal Music Publishing Group artists were used as part of Danny Boyle’s spectacular Opening Ceremony – with many more featured in Olympic venues over the course of the competition.
