Carey was the bass player in multi-platinum selling indie band Athlete. Along with his fellow band members he wrote numerous hits including 'Half Light', 'Superhuman Touch', 'El Salvador', 'You Got The Style', 'Chances', and 'Wires' which won an Ivor Novello award for 'Best Contemporary Single'.

Since Athlete, Carey has worked extensively with Dermot Kennedy both as co-writer and producer on numerous tracks including 'A Closeness', 'Moments Passed', 'Boston' and 'Lost'. Other credits include Tom Speight, Amber Run, Lilla Vargen and Sam Johnson and production on Freya Ridings' debut album. He has been shortlisted as Breakthrough Producer Of The Year at the MPG 2020 Awards.
