Jessica Mauboy

Darwin’s favourite daughter, Jessica Mauboy's debut album 'Been Waiting' reached 2 x Platinum status and spawned 6 Platinum and Multi-Platinum singles, scored 7 ARIA nominations and featured the ARIA and APRA award winning single ‘Running Back’ featuring US rapper Flo Rida. All of this before her 21st birthday.

The follow-up 'Get Em Girls' also spawned a number of Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum singles and debuted inside the ARIA Top 10. It featured collaborations with the likes of Snoop Dogg and Ludacris and marked a mature new sound for the girl from one of Australia and the world’s most isolated cities.

In 2012 and Jessica Mauboy reached a career defining point, staring in The Sapphires feature film - based on a true story the movie is a heartwarming tale about an all aboriginal soul group in the 1960’s. The film features Jess’ interpretations of a number of classic soul tunes but most excitingly offers a glimpse into Jess’ future direction on the original song 'Gotcha' (written by Jess, Ilan Kidron of The Potbelleez and Dutch producer Louis Schoorl). 'Gotcha' is retro and modern all at once, Jessica sings her lungs out atop a bed of 808’s and classic horn stabs - it is Mauboy’s proudest moment as both a performer and as a songwriter.

Jessica Mauboy is enjoying another “career” year. Though this time, it’s been a “global” year. In just a matter of months, Mauboy’s star went stratospheric thanks to her starring performance as “Julie” in the “The Sapphires,” she cut a new album 'Beautiful' and enjoyed her first solo national tour.
